Popis:	The paper is concerned with the methods of rheography and different types of plethysmography, with the possibilities of using them clinically for the assessment of the peripheral hemodynamics. It is concluded that the best type of mechanical plethysmography is plethysmography with the use of a mercuric timer; in addition, mechanical plethysmography compares very favourably with impedance one.
