Popis:	The article reviews the recent opinions concerning the predictive value of high cord blood IgE (cIgE) concentrations in the development of atopic disease in infancy and childhood. The results of data from different scientific centers remain still controversial. There is a general agreement that a high neonatal IgE concentration is connected with later allergic disease but low positive predictive value (PPV) of elevated cIgE makes cIgE determinations unuseful for general screening test.
