Popis:	As the child with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) grows older, gait and posture changes occur. This is attributable to the natural progress of muscle weakness secondary to muscle tissue destruction. Bracing improves body alignment and maintains limb stability passively. Surgical correction of contractures allows for bracing and maintenance function and is recommended as an adjunct to the overall care of the ambulatory DMD patient.
