Popis: We report the case of a 36-year-old woman who presented with a surgical site infection with atypical mycobacteria several months after liposuction in the Caribbean. Postoperative wound infections with Mycobacterium abscessus present as subcutaneous nodular abscesses with partly putrid secretion. Due to the necessity of specific diagnostic measures, diagnosis is often delayed. Treatment is difficult because Mycobacterium abscessus is resistant to conventional tuberculostatics and many other antibiotics. Clarithromycin combined with amikacin is the commonly used empirical treatment. Treatment duration is several months.
