Popis: The effectiveness of phenazepam, lithium and haloperidol used in combination was studied in schizophrenic patients with different courses of the disease. These drugs were used in doses lower than average therapeutic doses usually employed. The multiple modality therapy studied proved to be effective even in those cases where the patients had been resistant to earlier conducted active antipsychotic methods of treatment. In addition, there were no marked side effects in the form of extrapyramidal disorders. The follow-up study showed that the use of this treatment modality, having no effect on the progression of the schizophrenic process, may serve as a method of choice. This therapy has a number of advantages as compared with other treatments.
