There has been a rise in the detected cases of echinococcosis in Uzbekistan in the past years. Official data show that 1436 cases were recorded in 1998 while 387 were in 1988, i.e. the incidence increased by 3.7 times. By 2000, Echinococcus seropositive persons are expected to make up 167,300 (0.7%) and there will be 12,520 patients. |
