Renal cell carcinoma morbidity and mortality for 1978-1980 and 2001-2003 were studied using intensive and standard indices, Student's criterion. As shown by analysis of advanced cases protocols, late diagnosis rate decreased from 19.1 to 17.9%, advanced cases due to incomplete examination decreased from 7.8 to 2.8%, medical errors rate fell 4.6 fold. Main cause of late diagnosis was latent course of the disease (56.3 and 51.7%, respectively) and late referral for specialized medical care (17.0 and 42.4%). It is recommended to promote education among population and cancer alertness of primary care physicians. |
