Popis:	Rupture of an intra-abdominal varix in a patient with portal hypertension is a rare but severe cause of massive hemoperitoneum. The authors report the case of a patient with alcoholic cirrhosis that presented to the emergency department with hypovolemic shock. Imaging showed massive hemoperitoneum, severe portal hypertension and suggested the diagnosis of spontaneous rupture of an intra-abdominal varix, confirmed at laparotomy.
