Popis: The paper reviews the factors which affect synthesis and metabolic activity of the insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I), its receptor and binding proteins as age, nutritional state, hormonal state and liver function. Attention is also focused on the role of IGF-I in pathogenesis of osteoporosis and neoplastic diseases.
