Plasma lipid metabolism was studied in critical patients with severe combined injuries. Decrease in cholesterol concentration and increase in triglyceride concentrations were more pronounced in patients with lethal outcomes. The authors conclude that plasma cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations can be used as prognostic signs in patients with severe combined injuries. |
