Popis: The authors describe a terra cotta statue of the Nok culture (Nigeria) dating from between 450 and 50 B. C. Amongst thousands of the same origin, this statue is the only one representing a pathological state of cirrhosis, aetiology of which may be viral, parasitological or iatrogenic. Although no precise diagnosis can be made, this statue pays tribute to the power of observation of the artist who conceived it.
