Popis: Many issues involving the diagnosis and treatment of facial nerve disorders continue to engender controversy and debate. This article examines the theory that Bell's palsy is a herpes simplex neuritis and proposes facial nerve decompression for recurrent palsies. The contemporary management of herpes zoster oticus, temporal bone fractures, otogenic facial paralysis, and hemifacial spasm is reviewed.
