A type of high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV), HPV16 takes part in lung carcinogenesis. E6 and E7 are the major oncoproteins of high-risk HPV, and L1 is the major capsid protein. In this study, we detected their mRNA expressions and analyzed their relationship in the bronchial brushing cells of 211 patients with malignant lesions (squamous cell carcinoma of the lungs) and benign lesions (pneumonia and tuberculosis) by quantitative real-time PCR.
