Anastomotic aneurysms can occur at all sites of arterial revascularization. Recurrent aneurysmal disease, both true and anastomotic, is the third leading cause of late mortality after aortic aneurysm resection behind coronary artery disease and neoplastic disease (8). For this reason, long-term follow-up after resection is mandatory. If an anastomotic aneurysm is found at one site, a search should be undertaken at other sites. If a heretofore unrecognized intraabdominal anastomotic aneurysm is found, it should be repaired promptly. |
