Popis:	Tracheobronchial colonization is mediated by the patients host defence mechanisms, the extent of therapeutic interventions and the virulence of endogenous or exogenous bacteria mainly from the nasopharynx and the stomach. Aspiration from the stomach plays the main role in colonizing the respiratory tract in ventilated patients.
