Detection of bacterial antigen in stool specimens (HpSAT) is a new promising tool for diagnosing Helicobacter pylori infection. To evaluate diagnostic accuracy of HpSAT in the diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori infection. We evaluate the presence of Helicobacter pylori infection by the rapid urease test and the 13C-urea breath test in endoscopic biopsies. Patients who were positive for both tests were considered to have Helicobacter pylori infection. Patients negative for both tests were considered free of infection. The presence of Helicobacter pylori infection was also determined in stool specimens by means of HpSAT.The sensitivity of HpSAT was 92.8%, the specificity 92.3%, the positive predictive value 98.1% and the negative predictive value 75%.HpSAT is a reliable tool for diagnosing Helicobacter pylori infection. |
