Popis: Nursing diagnosis is being recognized for its potential to improve the quality of nursing care, delineate the domain and accountability of nursing practice, and contribute to the unique body of nursing knowledge. Nursing diagnosis can provide a practical and integral approach to the nursing process in a wide spectrum of clinical settings ranging from acute care to rehabilitative, home health, and long-term care facilities. The use of nursing diagnosis in our long-term care setting has provided a diagnostic nomenclature and framework that guides nursing practice, interdisciplinary care planning, staff education, and research. The ultimate outcome has been improved interdisciplinary communication and planning focused on individual resident needs and goals.
