Popis: Of patients with acute myocardial infarction eligible for the International Study of Infarct Survival-4, randomized to captopril (n = 30) or placebo (n = 33), the captopril group had a significant decrease in blood adrenaline on day 3 compared with baseline values. Results suggest that suppression of sympathetic activity contributes to the beneficial effects of treatment with angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors in the early phase of acute myocardial infarction.
