Popis: Penetrating trauma is an endemic urban disease. The initial assessment requires a comprehensive examination and assessment of wound morphology. Preliminary splinting and radiographs of the injured extremity are necessary to plan fracture fixation. The surgical approach must appreciate the zone of injury and respect the soft tissues. Open or indirect reduction and internal fixation are the preferred techniques to stabilize the fracture.
