En 1305, lors du couronnement de Clément V à Lyon, le comte de Savoie, Amédée V, profite de la présence de Philippe le Bel pour consolider le rapprochement opéré avec le royaume. Il entend aussi profiter des médiations royale et pontificale dans le conflit qui l’oppose au Dauphiné. La documentation comptable savoyarde dévoile l’itinéraire de l’hôtel du comte et ses lieux de séjour, notamment l’abbaye d’Ainay. Les nombreuses dépenses informent aussi bien sur le coût d’une politique de prestige que sur la réalité concrète de la diplomatie : financement des rencontres, activité des messagers et des ambassadeurs, parmi lesquels se distingue régulièrement un noyau de fidèles investis des missions les plus importantes. In 1305, at the time of the coronation of Clement V in Lyons, the Count of Savoy, Amédée V, took advantage of the presence of Philip the Fair to consolidate his rapprochement with the Kingdom of France. He also wished to take advantage of mediation from both the king and the pope in the conflict between Savoy and the Dauphiné. The county’s account books are our source for our knowledge of the itinerary of the count’s household and of the places where they stayed, which included Ainay Abbey. The accounts with their list of expenses inform us about the cost of a policy of prestige as well as about the everyday reality of diplomacy: we learn about the financing of meetings and the activity of messengers and ambassadors. Among these a small group stands out regularly; these are the faithful, to whom are entrusted the most important missions. |
