The aim of this study is to examine the life and works of Balkan Naci İslimyeli, Yüksel Arslan and Ergin İnan in a cultural context. Three artists who blended the modern with the traditional and analyzed the western culture very well were selected. In the study carried out for this purpose, the method of document review and literature review was used. In 2018-2019 years, the works of the artists and the sources of the works were examined. Many cultures and traditions that developed in different regions and at different times in Turkey, have been interpreted in different ways in plastic arts and used in modern art as a manifestation of social memory. However, in each period, culture and traditions were perceived differently and their reflections on art were in different ways. The cultural codes in the lives and works of three artists who have transferred the cultural accumulation of the lands they were born and raised to their works were examined. As a result, it is seen that three artists, who see different cultures and filter information, blend the images they see and take place in their cultural memories and artistic representations with their unique structures, create new meanings. The works of Balkan Naci İslimyeli, besides being modern and conceptual, produced works bearing the traces of the history of the lumps in which he was born and raised. Ergin İnan was produced works by blending the cultural values that existed in the Anatolian lands, combining the traditional with the modern with a unique style. In general, it can be said that the three artists frequently used the values that have survived to the present day by filtering from the memory of the society for centuries in their works |
