Popis: SUMMARY Morphological similarities are important to prove genetic relationship between languages. Turkish, as the main representative of the Altaic language group, has morphological similarities with agglutinative Korean and Japanese. In Turkish, Korean and Japanese, being morphologically in the same group, word-formation occurs mostly by suffixing. Studying converbal compound verbs in Turkish, Korean and Japanese, as one of the subjects of word-formation dealt in morphology, is the thema of this master's thesis. These Compound verbs in Turkish, Korean and Japanese distinctively differ from the other languages in formation. In the first, section of this thesis a brief information about comparative Liguistics, morphology and Altaistic Teory has been given. In the second section an outline of Converbal Compound Structure of verbs and the form of the main verb in the converbal compound structure and functions of the Second, depictive verbs have been given with the examples. In the third section comparison among these three languages has been made. Converbal compound verbs are made up of two elements. The main verb with its converbal structure and a second element, a secondary, independent verb which depicts and describes the action and gives the first, main verb an aspect. IllThese two verbs combine to form a new word that makes a unity both structural and functional. These compound verbs that occur almost systematically in Turkish, Korean and Japanese resemble in formation. This will suggest that there should be certain relationship among these languages. 112 119
