The employee is not, as yet, separated from the working environment by their 'humanity'. The working environment becomes a kind of network, connected to other employees and the enterprise through invisible threads of dependencies and influences woven from personal data that can be algorithmically arranged and given new meaning and ownership. Authority and subordination are their physical representations. These interdependencies have one thing in common, regardless of the type of organised complexity. Each employee is equally subjected to informational authority, regardless of their profession, tion and industry. Everywhere, they are equally networked, subject to the same pressure and supervision; everywhere, they are expected to demonstrate only one thing: performance. Work becomes a measurable quantity; it is predictable. One could say that this is a universal property of human labour. Determinism is omnipresent in every type of organised complexity. At the same time, it turns out that employers can gain absolute control over every part of said complexi |
