In this study, the effects of heavy metals in NiSO4, AgNO3, CuSO4.5H(2)O, CdSO4, ZnSO4.7H(2)O, and CoSO4 solutions on Saccharomyces cerevisiae 4 were examined, and total yeast protein quantities are determined. By using different concentration values of metal salts (NiSO4, 100-1700 mg L-1; AgNO3. 20-300 mg L-1; CuSO4.5H(2)O, 1000-1850 mg L-1; CdSO4, 10-200 mg L-1; ZnSO4.7H(7)O, 100-2000 mg L-1; CoSO4, 100-1750 mg L-1), minimal inhibition concentration (MIC) levels and statistical probit values of strains against metals were detected. MIC and LC50 values in S. cerevisiae 4 were determined to be 200 mg L-1 and 117.43 mg L-1 for AgNO3, 100 mg L-1 and 3.42 mg L-1 for CdSO4, 1600 mg L-1 and 717.10 mg L-1 for CoSO4, 1700 mg L-1 and 914.85 mg for CuSO4.5H(2)O, 1600 mg L-1 and 566.55 mg L-1 for NiSO4, and 1800 mg L-1 and 339.22 mg L-1 for ZnSO4.7H(2)O, respectively. Yeast strain grown in low and high heavy metal concentration and total protein quantities were determined compared with control medium. It was found that the total protein quantities of yeast decreased with increasing heavy metal concentrations. |
