Popis: | Physical activity plays a crucial role in the overall development of the human body across different life stages. Scientific evidence confirms that regular exercise reduces the risk of various diseases, enhances concentration and organizational skills, and fosters personal and social qualities. However, the academic demands faced by students, the challenges of being away from family, and the process of developing independence often contribute to a sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy eating habits. In order to prevent this trend, most higher education institutions in Bulgaria have incorporated mandatory sports disciplines into their curriculum for a minimum of two years. The purpose of conducting this survey among students at MU-Varna is to evaluate their motivation for participating in physical activity. To achieve this objective, a variety of research methods were employed, including:Sociological approach: A total of 121 students from the Medical University of Varna took part in the survey, providing individual and anonymous responses.Statistical method: The gathered data were subjected to statistical analysis.Documentary method: Relevant literature related to the research topic was examined.By utilizing these research methods, a comprehensive assessment of the students' motivation for engaging in physical activity was carried out.The survey results revealed that 46% of the respondents incorporate physical activity into their daily routines. Furthermore, more than two-thirds of the surveyed students (62.2%) reported experiencing definite health benefits from participating in sports, while 21.8% responded with "rather yes." Additionally, over half of the students indicated that they compensate for a lack of time for structured exercise by engaging in walking (56.8%). Analysis of the data also revealed that nearly one-third of the respondents reported an increase in their need for physical exertion (31.9%), while 20.2% expressed a decrease in this need.In conclusion, the findings of this survey indicate that the respondents consciously integrate physical activity into their daily lives and appreciate the benefits it brings. |
