Popis: Professional development is a long-life process of building on one’s professional portfolio through improvement and enrichment of knowledge and skills gained during the undergraduate education. In the sphere of veterinary medicine, right after graduation, all veterinarians are enabled to perform efficiently due to the Day 1 Competences. Veterinary curricula is structured in a way that help the students to acquire both theoretical and practical knowledge, skills and competences, but due to some organisational, economic and administrative reasons there still are gaps in the students’ preparation. Such gaps could be filled through additional activities as volunteering, helping undergraduates to enrich and broaden their expertise in a certain field of interest. Studying the veterinary students’ attitudes towards volunteering we found that 64.29% of the Bulgarian and 55.25% of the English speaking students have participated in voluntary activities, with another 19.52%, respectively 31.58% of them having volunteered in more than one sphere.
