The aim of this work is to show the potential of the island of Cres as an island that would satisfy all its energy needs from locally available renewable sources and thus become energy independent from the import of energy from the mainland. In the first part of the work, with a brief introduction, two EU-level declarations were discussed and later planning was carried out within the framework of these declarations. The second part of the work analyzed the island's energy consumption according to SEAP data for the reference year 2015. Consumption analysis is divided into sectors of construction, transport and public lighting. An overview of the island's current energy infrastructure and planned development infrastructure, which is also described in SEAP, is also presented. Following the analysis of energy consumption, the potentials of the island of Cres for the exploitation of RES that were available at its territory are shown. The greatest potentials of the islands lie in the utilization of solar and wind energy, and in this work examples of other European islands that have successfully integrated RES into their energy grid are presented and, according to their example, it is approached to the third part of the work where 3 scenarios of possible development of island Cres were developed. The scenarios were created with the help of the EnergyPLAN computer program, and the results were presented using tables and diagrams made in excel. All data on energy consumption are given in the work, and the complete results are in Addition at the end of the work. For each scenario, a detailed description of both the technical specifications and the cost description is made. The initial scenario is the current state of the island, and through the three scenarios presented in this work, it was intended to show how the island of Cres can gradually make an energy transition towards a 100% self-sufficient island.
