This paper represents the project of designing the smart beehive scale and it includes the developm ent of hardware and software parts of the device. The main idea of project is to provide information about hive using smartphone, in order to avoid going to hive location to check it manually. The work includes a detailed overview of the software developme nt, while due to its complexity, it provides only a basic overview of the hardware of the device itself. The hardware description part includes an overview of the process of making printed circuit board that contains the appropriate microcontroller as well as the characteristics of the various modules with which the microcontroller communicates in order to collect data from sensors. In addition to hardware with electronics, the project briefly describes the construction of a wooden frame and the constructio n of plastic housings using a 3D printer. The software part is the most comprehensive and shows the programming of the appropriate microcontroller in accomplishing various tasks, such as reading the values obtained from the sensors, sending a message to the user using the GSM module or setting an alarm to read the parameters. Finally, Android application is shown that is used for communication between hive and smartphone. |
