Popis: Minimalism is an art movement that emerged in the mid-19th century against abstract expressionism in America. The starting point of this trend is based on the necessity of using simple and plain forms in art. Unlike rigid formalism, free attitudes stand out in minimal works. This trend, which is represented in different branches of art, mostly shows examples in art fields such as painting, architecture and sculpture. The minimalist sense of art aims to highlight meaning with few objects and to save meaning from complexity. Therefore, the use of less objects and less items to reach the essence, which is one of the main goals of the minimalist movement, finds a place in the art of photography, just like in other branches of art. Basic elements that are common to minimalist photography; It can be described as simplicity, less object usage and large space gaps. When structural features of the photographs that are described as minimalist are considered, it is seen that there are geometric substances or objects in places. In addition, the use of large spaces in such photographs is one of the prominent features of the photograph. Spaces like sky, sea, lake, plain etc. are frequently featured in minimalist photographs. Less objects are used, and the use of color differs in such photographs with large space gaps. In minimalist photographs, it is seen that these spaces are embodied and that these spaces are also used as an aesthetic element. A minimalist photograph can appear in fictional, semi-fictional or non-fictional forms as in other areas. The technical development of cameras and the acceptance of photography as an art are important for the minimalist effects to find a place in the art of photography. In addition to the effects of the changes and developments in the technological field on the art of photography, the fact that new media platforms are preferred by many users allows photography to find a place in a much wider area. At this point, the main starting point of the thesis is to analyze the current reflections of the minimalist art movement on Instagram accounts, which is one of the most used social media platforms on the basis of photo sharing, through shared photos. The photographs considered within the scope of the study sample are analyzed qualitatively in line with the categories determined for the minimalist art movement, and it is examined whether these photographs reflect the basic characteristics of the minimalist movement.
