Honey is an important bee product for the economies of the country as a sector as well as important for nutrition. The European Union (EU) and Turkey are ranked second and third in the world after China in honey production. The EU is the largest importer of honey and exports high quality honey to international markets. Despite the potential to have the honey production in terms of quantity and diversity of Turkey, has not yet come to the place it deserves in the international markets. The EU's success in honey production and trade has been effective in protecting honey with a geographical indications system for a long time and supporting the sector with systematic practices. In this study, geographical indications and trade practices in terms of honey production in Turkey is evaluated in the EU special.
