Economy of an open pit mine is affected by many factors such as cutoff grade, geological structure, excavation starting coordinates, etc. which have varying impacts and weights from field to field. For sure, investigation of this much parameters requires long time and computer support. In this study, the parameters affecting net present value of an open pit mine has been examined by using a simulative optimization software evaluating 3 dimensional block models. The applications have been performed on hypothetical data. Parameters such as cutoff grade, annual production rate, excavation starting point, effect of processing plant and stockpile have been investigated by a system based on dynamic programming and heuristic approaches. Regarding criterion given by users, production plan of an excavator is optimized and net present value is estimated when the pit is entirely dug. Slope stability, movement capabilities of excavators, stockpile fullness level, consistency of mine and plant and time value of money are considered during the determination of block excavation plan.
