Popis: Objective: To determine whether there is a relationship between the degree of differentiation of the tumor in patients with gastric carcinoma and Helicobacter pylori in the normal mucosa adjacent to the tumor. Materials and Methods: 104 gastrectomy materials with carcinoma operated due to cancer at Istanbul Haseki Education and Research Hospital were examined retrospectively. Gastrectomy materials were fixed with 10% formalin. The paraffin blocks were prepared from tissue samples. 4 microns thick sections were taken from the blocks. The relationship between the presence of Helicobacter pylori in the mucosa adjacent to tumor and the degree of differentiation of gastric carcinoma was investigated. Descriptive summary statistics were obtained for all independent and outcome variables. Statistically significant p value was accepted to be less than 0.05. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS statistical software (IBM SPSS Statistic for Windows, Version 20.0; IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA). Results: Of the 104 carcinoma cases in the stomach, 5 were well-differentiated (4.8%), 20 were moderately differentiated (19.2%), 55 were low differentiated (52.9%), and 24 were undifferentiated (23.1%). Helicobacter pylori was found in 47 (45%) of 104 cases. Helicobacter pylori was observed in 4 (4.8% ) of 5 well-differentiated carcinoma, in 13 (65%) of 20 moderately differentiated carcinomas, in 25 (45.4%) of 55 low-differentiated carcinomas, and in 5 of 24 undifferentiated carcinomas. Conclusion: In parallel with the decrease in tumor differentiation in gastric carcinoma, the presence of Helicobacter pylori in normal mucosa adjacent to the tumor was decreased. Statistically significant difference was found (p
