The concept of a sourcing partnership within the IT sector is a completely undiscovered territory where only a limited amount of research has been done. The work that was been done focuses on measuring abstract concepts such as information transparency in order to assess a sourcing partnership. However the current available methodologies often require a hefty time investment and a great deal of knowledge in regards to the specific methodology. There are situations where this investment is not desired. However, this does not mean that gaining insight into the concept has no added value for an organization. For instance, can information transparency not be determined in a different, more appropriate way? There might be an alternative method to the current methodology that is still able to provide insights when measuring information transparency whilst providing a lower barrier of entry. To test this hypothesis interviews were conducted in which a set of measuring methods where provided ascending in difficulty and expansiveness. Each respondent was asked to judge the method on the basis that it provided enough information to make an informed decision or that it provided enough of a trigger to warrant further investigation. The results showed that, although the group was not in agreement on the type of measurement method, an alternative method can be found that is easier to implement in practice whilst still providing enough information to make an informed decision. The results further seem to suggest the type of method might have a correlation with the management level on which is being operated. On an operational level, unambiguously results have more of a preference where at a strategic level a result that was bases over time was preferred. |
