Popis: Background: Type 1 diabetes usually strikes children and young adults. Although vitamin D deficiency has been recently linked to diabetes, biochemical tests are restricted to traditional monitoring of glucose. Therefore, introducing vitamin D test in Gaza hospitals and its supplementation may help in the management of the disease. Objective: To assess serum vitamin D level in type 1 diabetic patients from Gaza Strip Materials and methods: This case-control study comprised 44 type 1 diabetic patients (22 males and 22 females) and 44 healthy controls (22 males and 22 females). Questionnaire interview was applied. Body mass index was determined. Serum vitamin D, glucose, insulin, cholesterol, triglycerides, high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), Alkaline phosphatase, calcium and phosphorus were determined.
