Road Safety Audit is the formal technique for reviewing accident potential and safety performance in the organization of new road systems, improving and rehabilitating existing roads, and maintaining roads. Ethiopian traffic accidents are steadily growing. Itcauses property damage as well as road user deaths. As a result, one of the most successfultechniques for road safety audit is the discovery and study of road accident black spots.Blackspots are road areas where crashes are regular or fatal injuries resulting from trafficcrashes. This research intended to study spatial distribution and statistical significance of traffic accidents by using GIS-based spatial analysis on Sululta to Fiche road network, which is located in the Northern Shewa of the Oromia region. The necessary data included in this research were traffic accident and data collected from site investigation and pertinent institution. GPS and Google Earth were used to Geocode crashes approximate locations. The analysis methods used for this research called Spatial statistics, which are ArcGIS tools. The Spatial Analysis used for this thesis Network Based Kernel Density (NKDE) was used to predict the severity of traffic accidents along the entire road network of Sululta to Fiche road network, which is located in the Northern Shewa of the Oromia region. They are a statistical method for identifying, mapping and predicting hotspots based on spatial distribution, and statistical significance of traffic crashes. Finally, the spatial analysis (NKDE) method identified Sululta, Chancho, Weganyi, Duber, Mukaturi, DebreTsige, DebreLibanos, and Fitche as the most crash vulnerable area. |
