The review article describes in more detail the application of ergonomics in the workplace in the field of health. Focus in the article is on underlying health risks, types of injuries and disorders that occur in interaction with the environment. The vast majority of health professionals suffer from various musculoskeletal diseases due to their inadequate body position while performing their duties. Among the most exposed employees are nurses who, due to the dynamics of their work, continuous exposure to physical effort, stress and inadequate ergonomically adjusted aids, are at a high place on the risk scale for the development of various diseases and disorders. Educating all profiles of health professionals, including nurses, about ergonomically correct position and enabling work with ergonomic aids such as elevators and various devices that reduce the burden on the body should be high on the list of priorities of every health institution, because only a healthy worker can help a sick individual. Ergonomics, ergonomic interventions and prevention programs play a key role in preventing adverse events at work, establishing a favourable work environment, reducing the risk of disease, educating and eliminating potential hazards from injuries at work.
