In this thesis, first the features of the human visual system that enable perceiving depth have been briefly described (stereoscopic vision). Then, an overview of the existing techniques for generating 3D stereoscopic images has been given and formats used for displaying 3D content have been explained. Specific distortions for 3D content have been listed and described. The process of subjective evaluation is briefly introduced, followed by the explanations of some of the objective assessment methods used for measuring quality of 3D content (PSNR, SSIM, 3D-SSIM, IQM2). The objective quality measuring has been conducted on a 3D videosequences database. In result, a conclusion on which objective assessment method is the best is given, based on correlations with MOS scores of the subjective evaluation.
