Handball is a sport that, compared to some other sports (e.g. football, basketball, etc.), is not so globally widespread. However, with the progress of the game and the training system, and especially with some new recently integrated rules, handball is becoming increasingly appealing to the wider public due to its dynamic play, quick actions and turnarounds in the game and is spreading across all continents and countries. Training plan and programme, well-designed training process, and a systematic development of players and teams are the main prerequisites for a successful progress in the game of handball. The game consists of two main phases and severalsub-phases. This paper deals with defence, which isidentified by many coaches as the main factor for success. There are several types and ways a team can play defence, and the zone defence formation 6:0 with an exit to the attacking pivot is currently the most frequently applied defense tactic which guarantees success. In order for this defense tactic to be successful, it is necessary to have a good methodical approach to defence play development on individual, group and, ultimately, collective level. Therefore, this paper analyses the tactic and methodology of 6:0 zone defense in handball.
