Popis: Tehnološki postupak dobivanja magnezijeva hidroksida iz morske vode, koji je razvijen prije 50 godina, zauzima znaĉajno mjesto meĊu kemijskim postupcima dobivanja. Magnezijev hidroksid nalazi široku primjenu u razliĉitim granama kemijske industrije, a u novije vrijeme i u podruĉju nanotehnologije. U ovom radu, uz primjenu ultrazvuka visokog intenziteta, cilj je bio dobiti talog magnezijeva hidroksida veliĉine ĉestica nanometra. Dobiveni talog magnezijeva hidroksida karakteriziran je odreĊivanjem raspodjele veliĉine ĉestica metodom raspršenja laserskog svjetla u podruĉju od 20 nm do 2 mm, te SEM analizom. Rezultati ukazuju da primijenjeni eksperimentalni uvjeti ultrazvuka (amplituda 25%/60 min.) nisu dovoljni da bi se dobio magnezijev hidroksid veliĉine ĉestica nanometra. The technological process of obtaining the magnesium hydroxide from seawater, which has been developed for over 50 years, has a significant place among the chemical processes of preparation. Magnesium hydroxide is widely used in various branches of the chemical industry, and recently in the field of nanotechnology. The purpose of this paper is to obtain magnesium hydroxide, with nm particle size by using the high intensity ultrasound. Magnesium hydroxide obtained was characterized by determining particle size distribution in the range of 20 nm to 2 mm by laser scattering method and SEM analysis. The results indicate that experimental conditions of ultrasound (25% amplitude/60 min.) is not sufficient to obtain the magnesium hydroxide with nm particle size.
