Soaps are the products of neutralization of fatty acids with alkalis whose production and use dates back to ancient times. They are produced by hydrolysis of fat, by the reaction of fatty acids and glycerol esters, by the action of alkali or water. They are most commonly used as personal hygiene agents, washing agents and households in general. In this paper the aim was to produce soaps using three different methods. Furthermore, by comparing the methods applied, a conclusion was reached on the best quality method given the reaction time, the condition and the quality of the final product. As the basic raw material, virgin olive oil was used, one of the frequent products represented in the Dalmatian area.
