The aim of this study was to determine the effect of twelve essential oils on the mycelial growth of Pyrenophora graminea. Essential oils are applied in amounts of 5, 10, 15, 25 and 50µl. The experiment was performed in the three repetitions. The inhibition zone was measured fourth and seventh days after inoculation. Essential oils applied in the amount of 25 and 50µl statistically very significantly inhibited the growth of fungal mycelium compared to the control. Thyme oil had the best antifungal effect. Thyme oil completely inhibited the growth of mycelium of the fungus Pyrenophora graminea. In addition to thyme oil, the essential oils of citronella, lavender, tea tree, anise and cinnamon bark had a strong antifungal effect. Eucalyptus essential oil had the weakest antifungal activity.
