This contribution aims at examining the Rufinian translation of Origen’s Homiliae in psal- mum 36, recently rediscovered in cod. Mon. Gr. 314. For this purpose an attempt is made to shed light on a contextual element which seems important for a global evaluation of the Rufinus’ work, that is the biblical witnesses adduced, which, in a comparison between Greek original and Latin translation, present many additions and subtractions. The biblical passages inserted by Rufinus and missing in Origen are several, as are those present in the original and missing in the translation. In this paper we limit ourselves to an examination of Pauline texts added by Rufinus which are also mentioned in his other works. |
