This work presents the results of trace metals in sediment profiles sampled at three different sites along a coastline, between the harbour channel of Ravenna town and the Lamone River mouth, where port and tourism activities are predominant. Concentrations of Cu, Cr, Zn, Mn, V, Co, Pb, Sr, and Ni were assessed against geochemical backgrounds and levels found in sediments from the Adriatic Sea and in the river feeding systems of the Emilia-Romagna Region. Calculated maximum probable background concentration (MPBC) show that this area is free from metal pollution and trace metal levels are at or below background levels of offshore sediments from the North Adriatic. |
