Popis: A proper diagnosis of historical buildings is necessary for preserving the integrity of the structures and for planning accurately any restoration work or rehabilitation intervention. The cultural importance of this kind of constructions and the conservation requirements imply to investigate them by non-destructive testing techniques. Nonetheless, when the structure has suffered or is showing distress it is important to determine with good precision its mechanical response to acting loads. This can be achieved on-site in a careful way. In Malvezzi Palace in Bologna, Italy, (15th C) a loading test was carried out on a masonry vault of a very characteristic ceiling, where significant cracks had appeared in the masonry and were later repointed and restored. The health-state investigation has foreseen during the loading test, the integration of traditional measurement tools with different wireless monitoring systems, exploiting different types of sensors. It is here reported about difficulties and manifested advantages of the approach. Comparative results will be shown.
