Purpose/Thesis: The paper analyzes English and Polish terms representing the following concepts: information architecture (IA), user experience (UX), user interface design (UID), and interaction design (IxD). Approach/Methods: We studied the definitions of these concepts and the uses of their terms in the literature of the subject, including books, journals, standards, online dictionaries, and digital design-related websites. Results and conclusions: The Polish translations of the English terms are correct except for user experience (UX). Instead of translating it as ‘doświadczenia użytkownika’, we recommend the term ‘wrażenia użytkownika’. We also conclude that the user experience concept should not be treated as an umbrella concept covering information architecture, user interface design and interaction design. Instead, we propose digital product design to be used as a generic term. Originality/Value: We propose our own definitions of IA, UX, UI, IxD concepts, and a graphic representation of their scopes. In addition, we introduce digital product design (DPD) as an umbrella term for IA, UX, UI, IxD. |
