This work is divided into two parts and touches occurrences, which roots go back to World War I. The inhabitants of Upper Silesia expirienced forced labor for the first time during World War II (WW II). In this period of time Germans organized factories that used forced labor, which manufactured neccessary equipment to run a war. After WW II forced labor did not vanished from our political and economic live. Forced labor camps organized on difirent patterns (according to NKWD standards) were meant to educate through labor and indoctrinate. At first prisoners of war were put there, and those who were described as not native to Polish state. Later were also added persons alienated to the railing class. Servile work which prisoners had to carry out were meant to acchive political and economic goals. Those camps existing from 1945 to 1954 were a very important chain in a system of stalinist terror. |
