Digitalization has changed social communication fundamentally. This primarily concerns media communication, which was dominated by mass communication in many areas. At present, this situation is undergoing a change. One of its outcomes is the emergence of periodic media communication, which not only turned addressees of media messages into subjects, but it also provides an opportunity for democratization of communicative relations in many areas, including political life. New phenomena in media spaces clearly indicate that the quality of democracy relies on the quality and civility of communication in societies, whereas great civility of communication in particular subject communities is developed in democracy. Communication is an ongoing process, in which interactions among people lead to comprehension, understanding, and consequently to agreement and cooperation. The analysis of these phenomena demonstrates that democracy and periodic media communication determine each other. |
