Forced labour camps in Coal Industry Association in Dąbrowa were established as a result of the resolution of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Poland of 11 April 1945. The camps functioned from April 1945 to April 1950. At its peak there were 10 camps at mines in Dąbrowa Górnicza. They detained prisoners of the Ministry of Public Security, internees and German prisoners of war, who had been handed over by the Soviet authorities. Living conditions, hard work, lack of sanitary and medical means, insufficient improvisation caused the deaths of 992 people. |
