The aim of the research was to determine the level of knowledge of men aged 40 to 79 in the County of Istria about prostate cancer, available screening methods, and their perception of their health status. The research participants are men between the ages of 40 and 79 who live in the County of Istria. Participation in the research was voluntary. All participants were familiar with the purpose of the research and how their data will be used. Data is anonymized to protect privacy. They were collected through an online survey of 28 questions with multiple choices, during May 2023. There is a lack of information about prostate cancer among men in Istria. Most get information about prostate cancer from the media, while a smaller number get information from doctors or other sources. Men in Istria have limited knowledge about prostate cancer and available screening methods. Most respondents have heard that there is a PSA test, but a smaller number know that it is a method of early detection of prostate cancer. They have mixed perceptions about digitorectal examination and other methods. Some are worried about discomfort and fear of pain during the examination. A smaller number of them consider themselves to be in the risk group for prostate cancer. As the risk of prostate cancer is related to age, all men over the age of 50 should be screened regularly. The majority stated that they intend to respond to preventive examinations. Raising awareness and education about prostate cancer and available screening methods are key to increasing the number of participants in prevention programs and reducing the incidence of this disease.
