Today, alcohol is ubiquitous and strongly promoted throughout society. Many people still think that drinking alcohol is a normal part of growing up. However, alcohol consumption among young people is dangerous not only for the drinker, but also for society as a whole. Alcoholism is one of the world's greatest public health challenges. The aim of this paper is to explain alcoholism as a serious public health problem that affects the health of individuals and society as a whole, and to present in more detail the etiology of alcoholism and why young people are at the greatest risk of developing alcoholism later in life. |
